چکیده

Canonical abstract prototypes are an innovative means for specifying and exploring visual and interaction design ideas. Intermediate between abstract task models and realistic or representational prototypes, canonical abstract prototypes provide designers with a standardized vocabulary for expre ssing visual and interaction designs independent of details of appearance and behavior. This common abstract design vocabulary facilitates comparison of designs as well as recognition and description of common design patterns. This paper introduces the basic concepts of abstract prototypes and covers recent refinements in the modeling notation and the set of canonical abstract components. From Abstraction to Realization

Prototypes One of the truly powerful tools in usage-centered design is the abstract prototype [Constantine, 1998; Constantine & Lockwood, 1999]. An abstract prototype allows designers to describe the contents and overall organization of a user interface without specifying its detailed appearance or behavior; it is, thus, a model of the architecture of the user interface being designed. We and o...

Canonical Abstract Prototypes for Abstract Visual and Interaction

Abstract user interface prototypes offer designers a form of representation for specification and exploration of visual and interaction design ideas that is intermediate between abstract task models and realistic or representational prototypes. Canonical Abstract Prototypes are an extension to usage -centered design that provides a formal vocabulary for expressing visual and interaction designs...

An MDA Approach for Generating Web Interfaces with UML ConcurTaskTrees and Canonical Abstract Prototypes

UML has become the standard language for modelling in different areas and domains, but it is widely recognized that it lacks support for User Interface Design (UID). On the other hand, ConcurTaskTree (CTT) is one of the most widely used notations for task and dialogue modelling. An important achievement is the proposed notation and semantics for CTT by extending the UML metamodel, proving that ...

CanonSketch: A User-Centered Tool for Canonical Abstract Prototyping

In this paper, we argue that current user interface modeling tools are developed using a formalism-centric approach that does not support the needs of modern software development. In order to solve this problem we need both usable and expressive notations and tools that enable the creation of user-interface specifications that leverage the design and thought process. In this paper we present th...

User-Centred Design and Abstract Prototypes

A user-centred design approach in combination with a tool-supported development of abstract prototypes is proposed. Based on task, object and user models an editor for modelling the navigation structure of a user interface as a dialogue graph is demonstrated. This editor is based on the XIML technology and allows simulations considering temporal relations between task and design decisions for t...
